Nehemiah 5:2-4

² Some were saying, “We and our sons and our daughters are many. Therefore, let us acquire grain so that we may eat and live.”

³ Others were saying, “We have mortgaged our fields, vineyards, and houses so that we might acquire grain because of hunger.”

⁴ Still others were saying, “We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute against the value of our fields and vineyards.
